How to Create a WhatsApp Template
How to Create a WhatsApp Template Intro: Learn how to build a WhatsApp message template, add data tags, buttons and RSVP options, submit it for approval, and edit or resubmit it after a rejection.
Open the WhatsApp Templates tab — Backend > Marketing > Messaging Campaigns > WhatsApp Templates. Table lists each template with its approval status; the tab badge shows how many are pending.
Start a new template — New Template opens the builder as a full page, centred, with the form on the left and a live conversation preview on the right.
Choose the template type —
Standard — regular message.
Invitation — RSVP invite. Selecting it reveals RSVP delivery (link, QR, or both) and, unless QR-only, an RSVP base URL; Accept and Decline quick-reply buttons are added by default.
Name the template — Template Name field (for example "Reminder — Day 1 Schedule").
Write the message body — free text in the message field.
Insert data tags — click Tags to open the picker: search, hover the info icon for a description, then copy or insert. Unknown tags are flagged so typos are caught before submitting. Invitation templates expose the extra RSVP tags.
Add buttons — up to the button limit, each with a type (quick reply, URL, phone) and a label; URL buttons accept data tags in the link, and buttons can be reordered by drag or the arrow controls. Every button needs a label.
Check the live preview — the preview renders the header image, body with sample tag values, and buttons exactly as the recipient sees them.
Submit for approval — Save submits the template as Pending.
