How to Prevent Users from Reserving Seats in Overlapping Sessions

Learn how to prevent attendees from reserving seats in multiple sessions scheduled at the same time in the vFairs Mobile App.

Important Note: This functionality is currently available only for the vFairs Mobile App. It is not supported on the web platform.

Prerequisites

Before enabling this functionality, you must first configure the Save a Seat feature for your sessions.

Enabling Overlapping Session Reservation Prevention

  1. Log in to the Event Backend.
  2. From the left navigation menu, go to: Sessions → Settings


  3. Open the Mobile Settings tab.
  4. Enable the following toggle:
    Prevent User from Reserving a Seat in Multiple Sessions at the Same Time


Once enabled, attendees will no longer be able to reserve seats in sessions with overlapping times.

How the Restriction Works in the Mobile App

When an attendee reserves a seat in a session, the system checks the timing of that session against other session reservations made by the same attendee.

Example

If an attendee reserves a seat in a session that runs from:

5:45 PM – 7:00 PM

and then attempts to reserve another session whose timing overlaps with that session, the attendee will see a popup message in the mobile app informing them that:

  • They already have a reserved seat during that time
  • They must first remove their existing reservation before reserving another overlapping session

This helps organizers prevent duplicate seat reservations and ensures more accurate session capacity management.
