How to Use Wayfinding on an Event Floor Plan

Wayfinding helps visitors navigate an event venue using an interactive floor plan. Visitors can search for exhibitors, review visited and bookmarked locations, switch between halls and floors, generate walking directions, and view the estimated travel time, distance, and arrival time for a route.

Viewing the Interactive Floor Plan

Open the event’s floor plan to access the interactive venue map.

The controls at the top of the floor plan allow you to:

  • Open the floor plan menu.
  • Search for exhibitors.
  • View visited exhibitors.
  • View bookmarked exhibitors.
  • Switch between available halls.
  • Switch between floors within the selected hall.

The controls in the lower-left corner allow you to open the Minimap and Legend. The controls in the lower-right corner can be used to zoom in, zoom out, or expand the map view.

Opening the Floor Plan Menu

Click the three-line menu icon in the upper-left corner of the map.

From the menu, you can:

  • Use Search to find a location on the floor plan.
  • Select Event Home to return to the main event site.
  • Select Download PDF to download a PDF copy of the floor plan.

Click the X to close the menu and return to the map.

Searching for an Exhibitor

To find an exhibitor on the floor plan:

  1. Click Search exhibitors at the top of the map.
  2. Enter the exhibitor’s name or other available search information.
  3. Select the required exhibitor from the search results.

The map will move to the exhibitor’s location and highlight the corresponding booth.

You can also select a booth directly from the map to view its available actions.

From the booth information card, you can:

  • Open directions to the booth.
  • Mark the exhibitor as visited.
  • Add or remove the exhibitor from your bookmarks.
  • Share the exhibitor or booth information.
Viewing Visited Exhibitors

Click Visited at the top of the map to view exhibitors that you have marked as visited.

The number displayed beside Visited indicates how many exhibitors have been added to the visited list.

When viewing an exhibitor or booth, use the visited control to mark or unmark it as visited. This allows you to keep track of the exhibitors you have already visited during the event.

Managing Bookmarks

Bookmarks allow you to save exhibitors or booths that you want to visit later.

To bookmark a booth:

  1. Select the booth on the map.
  2. Click the Bookmark icon on the booth information card.

Click Bookmarks at the top of the map to view all saved exhibitors. The number displayed beside the option indicates how many locations are currently bookmarked.

Select the bookmark icon again to remove an exhibitor from the list.

Switching Between Halls and Floors

If the event contains multiple halls, click the hall selector at the top of the map and choose the hall you want to view.

After selecting a hall, use the floor selector in the upper-right corner to switch between the floors available within that hall.

The map will update to display the layout and locations configured for the selected hall and floor.

Getting Directions to a Booth

You can generate directions by selecting a booth directly from the map.

To create a route:

  1. Select the booth you want to visit.
  2. Click Directions on the booth information card.
  3. The selected booth will automatically appear as the destination.
  4. Click Choose starting point.
  5. Search for or select your current location.
  6. Confirm the starting point and destination.

Use the switch icon beside the locations if you need to reverse the starting point and destination.

Once both locations have been selected, the route will be displayed on the floor plan.

The route uses different markers to identify:

  • The selected starting point.
  • The selected destination.
  • The recommended walking path between both locations.
Reviewing Route Information

After the route has been generated, the Directions panel displays:

  • Travel Time: The estimated time required to reach the destination.
  • Distance: The total distance between the starting point and destination.
  • Estimated Arrival: The expected arrival time based on the calculated travel time.

You can minimize the Directions panel to view more of the map while keeping the route active. Expand it again whenever you need to review the route information.

Click the X to close the directions and remove the active route from the map.

Simulating the Walking Route

The walking simulation provides a visual preview of how to travel from the selected starting point to the destination.

To start the simulation:

  1. Generate a route by selecting the starting point and destination.
  2. Review the travel time, distance, and estimated arrival.
  3. Click Simulate walking.

The map will simulate movement along the recommended route so that you can understand the direction of travel before beginning your journey.

During the simulation, you can follow the highlighted path and view the overall route to the selected destination.

Using the Minimap and Legend

Select Minimap in the lower-left corner to open a smaller overview of the complete floor plan. The minimap helps you understand which section of a large map you are currently viewing.

Select Legend to review the colors and labels used for different booths, statuses, or mapped areas.

Adjusting the Map View

Use the map controls in the lower-right corner to:

  • Click + to zoom in.
  • Click the expand control to enlarge the map view.

You can also move around the map to review nearby booths, pathways, facilities, and other venue locations.
