How to View Decision History for an Abstract

Learn how to access and review the complete decision history of an abstract from the View Evaluation(s) page in Abstract Management. The Decision History feature allows Event Organizers (Administrators) to review every decision version submitted by each reviewer, including decisions that were later undone or superseded.

Step 1: Open Abstract Management

From the event backend, navigate to:

Abstract Management → Submissions

The Submissions listing displays the abstracts submitted for the event.

Step 2: Open the Abstract's Evaluation Page

Locate the abstract whose evaluation history you want to review.

  1. Click the three-dot (⋮) action menu for the abstract.
  2. Select View Evaluation(s).

The View Evaluation(s) page opens.

The page displays information about the abstract, including:

  • Submitter
  • Authors
  • Reviewers
  • Each reviewer's total score
  • Current decision status, such as Accepted, Rejected, or Pending

Step 3: Open Decision History

In the top-right action area of the View Evaluation(s) page, locate the Decision History button.

Click Decision History to open the history.

Step 4: Review the Decision History Modal

A centered Decision History modal opens.

The modal header displays:

  • Decision History as the title
  • The total number of stored decision versions
  • The abstract ID

The history is presented in a read-only format. No decision can be edited, deleted, or reopened from this modal.

Step 5: Select a Reviewer

Decision history is organized by reviewer.

Each reviewer who has submitted at least one decision has their own tab.

For example:

  • Evelyn Marie — 3
  • John Smith — 2
  • Sarah Ahmed — 1

The number displayed next to each reviewer represents the number of decision versions submitted by that reviewer.

The first reviewer tab is selected automatically when the modal opens.

If there are more reviewer tabs than can fit within the modal, the tabs can be scrolled horizontally.

Step 6: Review Versions for the Selected Reviewer

After selecting a reviewer, only that reviewer's decision versions are displayed.

The versions appear as a vertical timeline, with the most recent version shown first.

Version numbering starts independently for each reviewer.

For example:

Reviewer A

  • Version 3
  • Version 2
  • Version 1

Reviewer B

  • Version 2
  • Version 1

This ensures that versions from different reviewers are never mixed together.

Step 7: Identify the Current Decision

The version that currently represents the active decision for the abstract is marked as Current Decision.

Only one decision version across the abstract can have the Current Decision status.

The current decision card is expanded automatically when the history modal is opened.

The reviewer holding the active decision is also identified with a Current Decision badge in the reviewer list on the View Evaluation(s) page.

Step 8: Understand Decision and Status Indicators

Each decision version includes a decision indicator and a status indicator.

Decision

The decision pill identifies the reviewer's submitted outcome:

  • Accepted — Green
  • Rejected — Red
  • Pending — Blue

Status

The status pill identifies where that version currently sits in the decision lifecycle:

  • Current Decision — Green with shield icon
  • Decision Undone — Yellow with undo icon
  • Superseded — Gray with layers icon
  • Archived — Gray with archive icon

These statuses help distinguish the current outcome from historical versions.

Step 9: Review a Collapsed Version

Each historical version is displayed as a card.

When collapsed, the card shows:

  • Version number
  • Decision
  • Status
  • Submission date and time
  • Lock icon indicating that the record is read-only
  • Expand chevron

The cards are displayed from newest to oldest.

Step 10: Expand a Decision Version

To view the complete evaluation for a version, click the card header or expand chevron.

The expanded card displays the evaluation information submitted by the reviewer, including:

  • Reviewer
  • Decision
  • Acceptance/Rejection Reason
  • Acceptance/Rejection Option
  • Quality
  • Difficulty Level
  • Describe Reason
  • Reviewer Feedback

You can expand and collapse individual cards independently.

Step 11: Review an Undone Decision

If a previously submitted decision was undone, the decision remains available in the history instead of being deleted.

The version is marked Decision Undone.

The expanded card includes an undo information panel showing:

  • Who performed the undo
  • Date & time when the decision was undone
  • Undo comment, if one was provided

This allows administrators to understand not only what decision was submitted, but also when and by whom it was undone.

Step 12: Understand Superseded Decisions

When a reviewer submits a new decision after an earlier decision was undone, the new decision becomes the next version for that reviewer.

For example:

  • Version 1 → Decision Undone
  • Version 2 → Current Decision

The previous active decision can also become Superseded when a newer decision replaces it.

The historical version remains available so administrators can see how the reviewer's decision changed over time.

Step 13: Navigate Between Reviewers

To review another reviewer's history:

  1. Return to the reviewer tabs at the top of the modal.
  2. Select the required reviewer.
  3. The timeline updates to show only that reviewer's versions.

Each reviewer maintains their own version sequence, so switching between tabs does not combine or renumber versions.

Step 14: Close Decision History

When you have finished reviewing the history, close the modal by:

  • Clicking the button, or
  • Clicking outside the modal on the overlay.

Clicking inside the modal will not close it.

You will return to the View Evaluation(s) page, and no decision or evaluation data will be changed.
