[AI Tools](https://help.vfairs.com/knowledge/ai-tools?hsLang=en) # How to Connect Claude to the vFairs MCP Server ## This article explains how to connect Claude to the vFairs MCP Server, outlines the event data and insights available through the connection, and provides sample prompts to help you get started. **Enabling this AI feature** AI-powered features in vFairs are gated behind an organization-level data consent setting, so this feature won't be available until that consent is granted. To turn it on: 1. Go to **Organization Profile \> AI Data Usage** (in the organization's backend settings). 2. You'll see two toggles: - **Event Configuration Data** *(No PII)* — lets AI features use your event's structural and content data (agenda, FAQs, session and booth details) to power things like event assistants, content search, and session recommendations. - **User Data** *(Contains PII)* — lets AI features use individual attendee, speaker, and exhibitor data to power things like matchmaking, personalized recommendations, and lead enrichment. 3. Turning on either toggle opens a **privacy consent pop-up**. From here you can download the AI Data Policy, review it, and sign it before turning the toggle on. 4. Only the Organization Owner can establish and authorize the connection. Once connected, it can support reporting and analysis needs across marketing, operations, analytics, and other event teams. ### **What is MCP?** MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that allows AI applications to connect to external tools and data sources. The vFairs MCP Server acts as a controlled bridge between Claude and the vFairs organization you authorize. vFairs remains the source of your event data. MCP gives Claude a conversational way to retrieve and analyze the information made available through the connection. ### **Connecting vFairs to Claude** Follow these steps to connect your vFairs organization to Claude. Enter a Name for the connector (e.g. “vFairs” or "vFairs MCP"). 2. Paste the Remote MCP server URL: ***https://agent.vfairs.com/mcp*** 3. Leave “Advanced settings” (OAuth Client ID/Secret) blank, these are optional and not required for the standard vFairs setup. 4. Click “Add.” ![](https://help.vfairs.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-28-2026-07-51-52-6570-AM.png?width=388&height=323&name=image-png-Sep-28-2026-07-51-52-6570-AM.png) *Add custom connector — Name and Remote MCP server URL fields* **Step 4:** *Authenticate and select your organization* Once added, find the vFairs connector in your Connectors list and click “Connect.” This redirects you to the vFairs authentication page: 1. Log in with your vFairs Organization Owner credentials. 2. Select the organization you want to connect to Claude. If your login has access to more than one organization, choose carefully, this determines which events and data Claude will be able to see. 3. Click the “+” button in the lower-left of the message box. 2. Select “Connectors.” 3. Toggle the vFairs connector on. You're now ready to ask Claude questions about your event data. Note: If you manage more than one vFairs organization, you may need to reconnect and re-authorize to switch which organization Claude is scoped to. **What Data Claude Can Access** Once connected, Claude can query the following data from your vFairs organization. Everything below is scoped to the organization you authorized during setup; Claude cannot see data from other organizations. **Events and organization:** List events, review event dates and formats, retrieve individual event details, and compare performance across multiple events. **Attendees and registrations:** Review registration counts and trends, segment attendees using registration-form responses, compare sources, and identify incomplete profiles or inactive registrations. **Sessions and speakers:** Search session and speaker details, review schedules and tracks, rank sessions by attendance, and identify sessions with low engagement. **Exhibitors and booths:** Retrieve exhibitor and booth information, compare visitor traffic, and identify booths that are performing strongly or may need additional promotion. **Attendee activity and engagement:** Analyze event check-ins, booth visits, session attendance, content views, and other available activities. Identify highly engaged attendees and people with little or no activity. **Meetings:** Review available meeting information, including scheduled or accepted meetings, when that data is available to the connected organization. **Surveys:** Analyze survey, poll, and quiz responses; summarize sentiment; identify common themes; and recommend improvements. **Reports and benchmarking:** Create executive summaries, compare events, identify anomalies, recommend next actions, and prepare data for dashboards or shareable reports. #### **How to Ask Better Questions** Claude works best when your question gives it enough to scope the query precisely. A few tips: - Name the event: if your organization runs multiple events, say which one you mean (e.g., “for the 2026 Career Fair”) rather than just “this event.” - Use exact names where you can: booth names, session titles, and attendee names get matched more reliably when typed as they appear in vFairs. - Give a date range for trend questions: “between May 1 and June 30” is more reliable than “last couple months.” - Ask follow-up questions: Claude keeps context within a conversation, so you can refine (“now just show me the ones from the waitlist”) instead of re-writing the whole question. - If a name matches more than one person, booth, or event, Claude will ask you to clarify — answering that follow-up gets you an accurate result faster than trying to make the first question more specific. | **Category** | **Example Questions** | | --- | --- | | **Registration & Attendees** | - How many attendees registered for \[event name\] between May 1 and June 30? - List attendees who are still on the waiting list, and their position in the queue. - Which attendees are registered for more than one of our events? - Show me attendees from the Marketing department who haven't logged in yet. - Which registrations came in through our LinkedIn campaign? | | **Sessions & Agenda** | - Who is speaking at \[session name\]? - Which sessions had the highest attendance? - Has \[attendee name\] attended any sessions yet? | | **Sponsors & Exhibitors** | - List all exhibitors at the \[booth name\] booth. How many exhibitors registered last month? - Which exhibitors are on the Gold package? Which booths got the most visits this week? | | **Meetings** | - Show all scheduled meetings for \[event name\], grouped by status. - Which attendees have the most accepted meetings, and who has none? | | **Networking & Engagement** | - Compare engagement across booth visits, session attendance, and web logins. - Did \[attendee name\] visit the \[booth name\] booth? - Show me a leaderboard of the most-visited booths, with unique visitor counts. - Which attendees have logged in but haven't visited any booths? | | **Analytics & Benchmarking** | - Give me a full engagement summary for \[event name\] — registrations, booth visits, and session attendance. - How does registration volume this month compare to last month? - Summarize the results of our post-event survey. |   #### **Troubleshooting** **The Connectors option is missing:** Confirm that your Claude plan, workspace role, and administrator settings support custom connectors. Availability and menu labels may change as Claude updates its interface. **Authentication fails:** Confirm that you are signing in with a valid vFairs Organization Owner account. Only the Organization Owner can authorize the connection. **Claude does not use the connector:** Start a new conversation, enable the vFairs connector if required, and explicitly say “Use the vFairs MCP connector” or the connector name you selected during setup. **The requested information is not returned:** Confirm that the information exists within the connected vFairs organization. Make your question more specific by including the event name, date range, and required metric.  **Next step:** *[Set Up vFairs Agent Skills in Claude](https://help.vfairs.com/knowledge/setting-up-and-using-vfairs-agent-skills-in-claude?hsLang=en)* to run ready-made event analysis workflows without writing complex prompts.   #### **Data Privacy and Responsible Use** **Before connecting, understand that your vFairs data will be shared with and processed by the AI provider you choose to connect.** The vFairs MCP Server extends the security and privacy practices you already expect from vFairs to AI-assisted event analysis — but once connected, your event data is transmitted to your selected LLM provider for processing, subject to that provider's own terms, privacy policy, and data handling practices. vFairs does not control how your chosen provider stores, uses, or retains this data. The connection itself is scoped for safety: it must be authorized by a vFairs Organization Owner, is limited to the connected organization, and provides **read-only** access. Your assistant retrieves event information only when you ask it to, and you can disconnect at any time. **Before enabling the connection, your organization should:** - Confirm that this use complies with applicable privacy laws and your organization's internal AI policies. - Review your agreements, privacy notices, consent requirements, and data-retention settings. - Review the privacy, security, and data-processing terms of your selected AI provider. - Limit access to authorized users, and request only the information needed for a legitimate business purpose. -
