How to Use the “Send Test” With Test Attendee
Learn how the improved Send Test functionality now uses your event’s Test Attendee to populate all dynamic tags. This ensures that test emails show real, fully merged data instead of raw tag labels, helping you preview exactly what attendees will receive.
Configure a Test Attendee
Head over to the Participants section in the event backend.
Test attendee will be visible under Attendees & Registrants with a TEST pill will appear next to their name.

This attendee will now be used as the source of data for all test email sends within your event.
Sending a Test Email From Email Campaigns or System Emails
Open Email Campaigns or System Emails and choose the email you want to test.
Insert merge tags such as @first_name, @company, or @job_title into the subject or body as needed.

Click the Send Test button.
Enter the email address where you want to receive the test message.
The system uses the Test Attendee’s data to replace all supported tags.
The test recipient will see a fully merged, production-ready version of the email.
How Tags Are Populated in Test Emails
When you send a test, the system automatically fills all dynamic fields using the Test Attendee, including:
-
Profile tags (first name, last name, email, status, registered at)
-
Registration form fields (company, job title, phone)
-
Pre-approval fields
-
Custom registration fields
All sections of the email subject line, header, footer, and body use the Test Attendee to render accurate values.
If multiple attendees are marked as TEST, the system uses the available data as entered for each.
This setup ensures that every test email reflects real attendee information, giving you complete confidence that your messaging, personalization, and merge tags are working exactly as intended and allows event organizers to clearly understand how attendees will experience and view the email.
