How to Restrict Lead Reviewers from Accepting/Rejecting Submissions

Learn how to restrict regular lead reviewers from accepting/rejecting submissions while preserving full accept/reject rights for lead reviewers who are redirected from the Event Owner portal.

  1. Go to Backend > Abstract Management > Settings > General Settings.

2. Locate the master setting: Enable Abstract Acceptance and Rejection Reasons.

Note: The master setting must be ON to reveal the reviewer sub-toggles described below.

3. After the master setting is enabled you will see two sub-toggles:

  • Enable Accept /Reject Capability for Peer Reviewers
If enabled, peer reviewers can accept or reject the abstract and add reasons and feedback. Reasons are added in the Evaluation Setup.

  • Enable Accept /Reject Capability for Lead Reviewers (NEW)
If enabled, lead reviewers can accept or reject the abstract and add reasons and feedback. Reasons are added in the Evaluation Setup.”
    Default: Off

Note: Event Owner Redirected Lead Reviewers (users who access the reviewer portal via redirection from the Event Owner portal) are unaffected by the Lead Reviewer sub-toggle and will continue to have accept/reject rights as before.

4. Configure the toggles

  1. Turn Enable Abstract Acceptance and Rejection Reasons ON (if not already).

  2. Set Enable Accept /Reject Capability for Peer Reviewers to ON or OFF depending on whether you want peer reviewers to be able to accept/reject.

  3. Set Enable Accept /Reject Capability for Lead Reviewers to ON if you want Regular Lead Reviewers to keep accept/reject permissions; set to OFF to restrict Regular Lead Reviewers to view and evaluate only.

5. Click Update Settings to apply changes.
