The Product Categories feature allows users to organize products into categories (e.g., Electronics, Clothing, Home Goods), making it easier for customers to browse items and for you to manage inventory. Follow the steps below to create and manage product categories.
Prerequisites:
- Ensure you have an Event Owner/Admin user role to enable and manage product categories.
- Verify that E-commerce settings are configured in your platform.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Enabling Product Categories
- Go to the E-commerce tab in the left-side panel.
- Within the E-commerce dashboard, click on Settings in the top-right corner, located next to the Add Item button.
- In Settings, locate the Enable Product categories toggle.
- Enable this toggle to access product categories. Once enabled, you will see the Categories sub-tab in the E-commerce dashboard.
1. Navigating to the Categories Dashboard
- Go to the E-commerce tab in the left-side panel.
- Within the E-commerce dashboard, click on the Categories sub-tab.
The Categories dashboard displays key details in a table format, including:

2. Creating a New Category
- Click the Add Category button in the top-right corner of the Categories dashboard. A side panel will open for adding a new category.
- Fill out the fields in the form as follows:
- Category Title: Name your category for easy identification.
- Parent Category: Select the associated parent category from the dropdown list if this category is a sub-category. Leave this field empty if creating a parent category.
- Language: Specify the language for this category (if applicable).
- Click Save to add the category to your dashboard.
3. Associating Categories with Items
Once categories are created, they can be associated with relevant items:
- Go to the Items sub-tab in the E-commerce dashboard.
- If updating an existing item, click the Edit Item button next to the item to open the edit form.
- If adding a new item, click the Add Item button at the top-right to open a new item form.
- In the item form, scroll down to find the Categories dropdown menu.
- Select the category that matches the item, linking it to the correct category (e.g., Electronics, Apparel).
- Click Save to apply the category association to the item.
4. Editing or Deleting Categories
- To edit a category, click the Edit icon under the Actions column.
- For deletion, click the Delete icon and confirm deletion when prompted.
Tips:
- Use parent categories for broad categories (e.g., Electronics, Clothing) and sub-categories for specific options within those categories (e.g., Laptops, Jackets).
- Regularly review and update your categories to ensure they reflect current inventory and product offerings.
