This guide explains how to enable and manage the Scavenger Hunt feature on vFairs, which adds gamification elements to events to engage participants by having them find hidden items for points and rewards.
What is a Scavenger Hunt?
At vFairs, the Scavenger Hunt is an engaging gamification feature designed to enhance attendee interaction during virtual, hybrid, or in-person events. Participants are tasked with finding hidden items across the event platform, either online or on-site using the mobile app. They can collect points by locating and clicking (in case of virtual) or scanning the items’ QR codes (on-site), and getting points in the player’s rankings.
How to Enable Scavenger Hunt?
- Login to the backend, click Event Setup, and then click General Settings.
- Scroll down and click Advanced Settings.
- Enable New Scavenger Hunt field in order to Enable this game.
- Then fill in the following fields:

Scavenger Hunt Start |
The beginning point of the scavenger hunt, from where users can start searching for hidden items across the platform or venue. |
Scavenger Hunt End |
The closing point of the hunt, after which no further points can be accumulated by the user. |

Total Number of Scavenger Hunt Items |
Displays the total count of hidden items that participants must find during the scavenger hunt. |
Scavenger Hunt Items Success Message |
A customizable message shown to the participant after successfully completing the scavenger hunt. |
How to manage Scavenger Hunt?
- Login to the backend, and navigate to the “Engagement” section in the left menu. Click on it to expand, then select “Scavenger Hunt”
- Click the ‘Add Item’ button to Add items for Scavenger Hunt.
- Fill in all the required fields.
Title |
The name of the scavenger hunt item. |
Success Message |
A customizable message displayed to users once they successfully find and click or scan the hidden item. |
Type |
The category used for the scavenger hunt. (E.g Item, Redeem Item) |
Points |
The number of points awarded to users upon successfully finding an item. |
Active (Toggle) |
A switch to enable or disable the scavenger hunt item. |
Note:
Redeem Item: provide users with brief information about an item that can be redeemed. For example:
Redeem Item Example:
- Item Name: 20% Off Coupon
- Description: Redeem this coupon to get 20% off your next purchase. Applies to all items.
- How to Redeem: Enter the code 'SAVE20' at checkout.
- Expiry: Expires on December 31, 2024.
- Click Save to save the item. The item will then show on the listings screen.
- User can change the status of the item according to his preference. If the status is enabled, The item is present to be found. If the status is Inactive, then that item can no longer be found in the scavenger hunt game.
- Users can also Search and Reorder the Items according to their preference.
- QR Code can be generated by clicking the ‘More’ button (for on-site Scavenger Hunt items).
- Users can select which columns they want to see in the listing by clicking the Columns button and selecting the fields.
- The redeem item in scavenger hunt has a qr code also just like other items. and when the redeem item is scanned, the user's points are deducted from their total score. To enable Redeem Item, the user has to go to Mobile app settings and enable the toggle.
- Lastly, Items can be edited or deleted by clicking the ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’ icon in the Actions column of the list.
