How to enable carbon calculator

Learn how to enable the carbon calculator for attendees to calculate their carbon footprint and see the number of trees saved by attending the event virtually. This guide covers setup and attendee access to the carbon calculator.

What is a carbon calculator?

A carbon calculator is a tool designed to measure and display the carbon emissions saved by each user when they participate in a virtual event. It calculates the estimated emissions that would have been generated by attending in person and presents the reduction in grams of carbon emissions, providing users with a clear view of their positive environmental impact.

How does the carbon calculator work?

At the point of registration, vFairs tracks the IP address of the registrants which helps in identifying where in the world they have registered from.

The carbon calculator would use their IP address and generate GPS coordinates. These coordinates are then used to calculate the distance between the event venue and the user.

If the distance is less than 300KMs then it would consider travel by road and if the distance is more than 300KMs then it would consider travel by air and would apply the carbon emissions rule accordingly.

Steps to set up the Carbon Calculator

Access the event settings

  1. Login to the event backend
  2. From the left navigation menu, click on event setup>enable carbon calculator
  3. Enter the exact location of the event in the “Event Location” textbox
