How to block/inactivate users in bulk at the backend

This guide will walk you through the steps to bulk inactivation for multiple attendees, speakers, or exhibitors.

If you need to inactivate multiple users at once (such as when dealing with a large number of attendees or exhibitors), the process can be streamlined through bulk actions. Here's how to inactivate users in bulk:

Step 1: Go to Participants

As with the individual inactivation process, begin by navigating to the Participants section of your event platform from the left navigation menu.

Step 2: Select "Attendees and Registrants"

Click on Attendees and Registrants to see the list of all participants in your event. Here, you will be able to select the users you want to manage.

Step 3: Select the Users to Inactivate

Scroll through the list and select the checkboxes next to the users you want to inactivate. You can select multiple users at once or select all users on the page, depending on your needs.

Step 4: Click the "MORE" Button

After selecting the users, click on the MORE button, which is typically located at the top right of the participant list. This will open a dropdown menu with additional options for managing the selected users.

Step 5: Choose "Inactive Selected Users"

From the dropdown menu, select the option Inactive Selected Users. This will trigger a bulk inactivation process, and the selected users will be immediately blocked from accessing the event platform.

Step 6: Confirm the Action

A confirmation pop up will appear to confirm the action. To confirm, Click "Yes, please proceed" button. Once confirmed, the users will be inactivated, and they will no longer have access to your event.

Why Inactivate Users?

  • Behavior Management: Inactivating users may be necessary if a user violates event policies or engages in disruptive behavior. This can help maintain the integrity of your event.
  • Registration Issues: In some cases, users may have registered incorrectly or under false pretenses. Inactivating such users ensures they do not access the event.
  • Event Control: If registration closes or you need to limit access for certain user groups (e.g., exhibitors, speakers), inactivating users ensures that only authorized individuals can participate.

Additional Tips:

  • Communicate with Inactivated Users: If you are inactivating users for reasons such as policy violations or registration issues, it's a good idea to communicate this with the affected users. Consider sending them an email explaining the situation.
  • Reactivation: If you need to reactivate an inactivated user at any point, simply return to their profile, toggle the "Enable User" option back on, and save the changes.
  • Monitor User Activity: Regularly check user activity and inactivate users who no longer need access, or if you notice any suspicious activity. Keeping your user list up-to-date helps ensure smooth event management.
