How to Make an Announcement

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up event announcements from the event backend.

Steps to Set Up an Announcement

  1. Access the Event Backend
    • Navigate to the backend of the desired event.
  2. Go to the Marketing Section
    • Select the "Web Notifications" menu.
  3. Create a Notification
    • By default, no announcements are added to the event; users must manually add them.
    • Click on "Create Notifications" to add a new announcement.
  4. Choose the Notification Type
    • There are four types of announcements that can be sent to event attendees:
      • Button or Message Notifications: Used for text announcements or to add a button that redirects users to a specific link (e.g., an event starting soon with a session link).
      • Audio Notifications: Used for voice announcements.
      • Video Notifications: Used for video announcements
  5. Fill Out Notification Details
    • Based on the notification type, different fields will populate:
      • Notification Title: Appears as the heading of the announcement.
      • Notification Message: Appears as the text of the announcement.
      • Start and End Time: Define the display duration of the announcement.
      • Language: Select the language for the announcement.
      • Continuous Display: Enable this option to keep the announcement visible continuously.
  6. Segment the Audience (Optional)
    1. Announcements can be sent to specific segments. Ensure segments are created, then select the segment and enable the "Apply Segment" button.
  7. Add Media (If Applicable)
    • Audio Announcements: Upload an audio file (MP3) or provide a URL.
    • Video Announcements: Upload a video file or add a video URL. Choose the preview style (e.g., within the announcement popup or in a separate popup).
  8. Add Button Details (For Button and Message Notifications)
    • If adding a button, fill out the following fields:
      • Button Label: Text that appears on the button.
      • Button Action: Define where the user will be redirected (e.g., event menu, external URL, or custom code).
  9. Enable the Notification
    • Mark the status button as Enabled to activate the notification.

Your announcements are now set up and ready to be displayed to event attendees. This ensures effective communication and engagement throughout the event.
