How to set up chat

Creating an engaging and efficient chat system within vFairs is straightforward. This will walk you through the essential settings to configure chat functionality effectively, enhancing participant interaction at your virtual event.

Accessing Chat Settings

  1. Log In and navigate to Networking: Once logged in, click on the ‘Networking’ tab in the sidebar to expand your options.
  2. Chat Settings: Under the Networking tab, find and click on ‘Chat Settings’. This area allows you to configure all chat-related functionalities.

 

Configuring Essential Chat Features

Chat Settings:

  • Enable New Chat: Turn on this option to allow participants to initiate new chat conversations. This enhances interaction by enabling attendees to connect and communicate directly within the platform
  • Allow attendees to start a call with Admins: Enable attendees to initiate audio/video calls with admins. This facilitates direct communication and immediate assistance.
  • Allow attendees to start Direct Messages with Admins: Permit attendees to start direct messages (DMs) with admins, enhancing interaction and support.
  • Enable User Status: Activate this feature to display each user’s current status, such as 'Online', 'Away', or 'Do Not Disturb', enhancing awareness of their availability for chat and interaction.
  • Enable Pinned Messages: Allow moderators and admins to pin important messages at the top of the chat. This ensures that all participants can easily view critical announcements or information throughout the event.
  • Enable Offline Messages: Activate this feature to ensure that users receive notifications via email when they are offline, keeping them informed of important conversations.
  • Message Search: Allow users to search for specific messages within the chat history to quickly find relevant information and discussions.

A/V Setting

  • Audio/Video Integration (A/V): Use ‘Whereby’ for integrating audio and video calls directly from the chat interface, It is a third party application that has more enhanced features for a seamless user experience.

Embedded Chat

  • Embedded Chat: Enable embedded chat to provide users with a readily accessible chat icon within the event platform, making the chat feature more intuitive and accessible.

Chat Queue Settings

  • Enable Chat Queue Feature: Implement a chat queue to manage the flow of user interactions effectively, especially when admins are engaged in conversations. This helps in organizing the queue and reducing wait times for attendees.

Profanity Filter


  • Enable Profanity Filter: Activate the profanity filter to maintain professionalism and decorum within chat interactions by automatically filtering out explicit language.
  • Enable default profanity filter: Allows you to choose whether you want to redact full message or redact profanity words only.
