Guide: Setting Up Payment Gateways in vFairs
vFairs offers over 35 payment gateway options, including popular platforms like PayPal, Stripe, and many sub-options (Venmo, Affirm, etc.), resulting in hundreds of configuration choices. This guide will walk you through setting up a payment gateway for your event.
Step 1: Access the Payment Gateway Settings
- Log in to your vFairs event dashboard using your admin credentials.
- Navigate to the Registration >> Payment Methods" section:
- From the listng and click on Add.
- You will be redirected to the Payment Gateway Setup page.
Step 2: Choose the Payment Gateway Provider
- In the Payment Gateways section, you will see a list of available payment gateway providers.
- From the list of 35+ providers (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, Razorpay, etc.), select the one that best fits your event’s requirements.
- If your chosen provider has sub-options (e.g., PayPal offering Venmo, etc. for financing), expand the sub-options to choose your preferred setup, we support them via our paypal integration in our vFairs payment marketplace. Or these can be enabled from your payment gateways settings in certain cases.
Step 3: Configure the Payment Gateway
- Once you’ve selected a payment provider, click on Configure.
- You will be prompted to enter credentials for that specific gateway. This typically includes:
- API Key
- API Secret
- Merchant ID
- Public Key/Private Key (as required by the gateway)
- Note: Each gateway may have different credential requirements. Make sure to collect these details from your payment provider.
- After filling in the credentials, click Save or Connect to link the gateway to your vFairs event. Stripe connect offers guided connectivity by clicking on the connect button.
Step 4: Set Transaction Rules
- Some payment gateways allow you to define specific transaction rules such as:
- Currency type (USD, EUR, etc.).
- Booking fee ( this would be charged by you on top of gateway fee and others)
- It is typically a percentage. Say 5%o of the total order value.
- Set up these preferences according to your event’s needs.
- Click Save Settings.
Step 5: Test the Payment Gateway
- After configuring the gateway, return to the Payment Methods list.
- Toggle on the sandbox button. By enabling this, you can make test transaction in the registration form using the test cards.
- The test transaction simulates a purchase on your event's registration page.
- If the test is successful, the payment gateway can be made live for event registrations by toggling sandbox off.
- If the test fails, review the credentials and settings. Ensure that there are no typos or missing details. Also check your gateway if it requires enablement of any kind from your payment gateway provider.
- Also make sure to personalize the payment success and failure message for your registrants. You can edit success and failure pages right here.
Step 6: Managing Multiple Payment Gateways
- If your event requires multiple payment gateways (e.g., Stripe for credit cards and PayPal for digital wallets), you can enable more than one.
- Return to the Payment Gateways page and repeat the configuration process for additional gateways.
- When multiple gateways are active, registrants will have the option to choose their preferred payment method at checkout.
Step 7: Monitor Payments and Transactions
- Navigate to the Transactions tab on your payment roll-uo dashboard to view all payments made through the enabled gateways.
- You can view, filter, and export transaction reports from here.
Important Notes:
- Some payment gateways may charge transaction fees. Be sure to review the fee structure of each provider.
- Ensure that your payment gateways comply with local regulations, particularly if you're accepting international payments.
- Keep your API credentials secure to avoid unauthorized access.
